President Clinton Names Frances B. Craig to the Advisory Committee on Expanding Training Opportunities

July 28, 2000 - The President today announced his intent to appoint Frances B. Craig to serve on the Advisory Committee on Expanding Training Opportunities.

Ms. Frances B. Craig, of Fairfax, Virginia, is President and CEO of Unanet Technologies Inc., an information technology company specializing in Web business products and solutions for managing information-age work. She has directed global IT planning, development, and operational activities at DHL Worldwide Courier, GTE Telenet and Carnegie-Mellon University. Ms. Craig leads programs which explore the adult learning model for The Society for Information Management, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and Women in Technology.

Ms. Craig received a B.S. degree in mathematics from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana with further studies at Carnegie-Mellon University.

The Advisory Committee on Expanding Training Opportunities was established by Executive Order 13111 to provide the President with an independent assessment of how the federal government can encourage the effective use of learning technology to provide more accessible and cost-effective for all Americans. It will study the progress made by the Federal government in its use of technology in training programs. The Committee will also provide an analysis of options for helping adult Americans finance the training and post-secondary education needed to upgrade skills and gain new knowledge. These options include grants, tax incentives, and low-interest loans. The Office of Personnel Management will support the Committee's activities.
