Resource Utilization

Effective resource utilization is the practice of placing the most qualified people in the right places, at the right times. Recruiters understand the importance of finding the right "fit" for particular positions. Whether or not a worker is a good match for a particular opportunity depends not only on skills but also experience and personality. When you need someone to work on a specific project or fill a particular position, finding the right person can require trial and error.

The goal, however, is to select the right contractor or employee the first time. In order to do this as efficiently as possible, you need detailed description of the type of person needed for the job. If you are searching for someone to fill an in-house position, you probably have a good idea of what you need. As a recruiter placing people at various companies and locations, on the other hand, you should take the time to get a strong understanding of what the job entails and the work culture at the company.

Knowing the type of person you need is only half the job. You also have to find a candidate, and the fastest way to find someone is having an extensive pool of people from which to choose. Having a database searchable by skills, experience, and worker preferences is much more effective and efficient, of course, than drawing on memory or seeking candidates through advertisements, which should be a last resort. When needs arise, it is incredibly convenient to be able to log onto the database, enter search criteria, and then see a listing of people who match the description. Even better, the database should be integrated into a program that can identify which candidates are available for work.

Unanet Software for Resource Utilization

Unanet's software can be used for all aspects of project management, including the first step in completing a project, which is choosing the appropriate human resources. By logging on to the Unanet interface, you can quickly find the people who will meet project requirements. You will also see when those candidates are available for work, and any other pertinent information you choose to store in the database regarding contractors and employees.
