Project Types

When entering time or expense information, you always specify a project and project type.   The project type may be used for many purposes.   As an example, you may setup the following list of project types to reflect billable and/or internal projects:

Project Type - The unique system identifier for a project type.  Project Type is defined as what type of work is being performed.  For example, you may want to have values such as 'billable', 'nonbillable', 'fixed', 'direct', 'indirect', 'internal' --- it's up to you.  Many of the reports within Unanet allow you to query by Project Type.

Description - A description of the project type.

Administrative - This flag is used to indicate whether this project is administrative or not.  There is only one specific instance within the system that requires a particular project type to be identified as Administrative -- and that is when specifying a Holiday project type.   All holidays in the system must be defined as Administrative Projects.  As such, Unanet has one project type by default with is called "Administrative" and has the administrative flag set to yes.  You may capitalize on this category for other purposes -- but this is one particular case in which it must be used.

Billable - This flag is used to indicate whether this project is billable or not.  The billable field will affect the result of some of the reports such as the Billing Report and Financial Reports.  If the Billable flag is set to No, the Bill Amount or Actual Labor field on these reports would show $0.00 even though there are some hours charged to the Task/Project.  The rates that show on these reports is actually calculated during timesheet entry --- it is at this point that the billable flag is interpreted.  The reports simply reflect the results.
