Restricted View

With release 3.1 Unanet has been enhanced to allow for the option to restrict the view of data that Mangers can access.  Unanet can be configured to limit a Manager's access to report data that is for users that are within his/her approval groups only.  In addition, if a Manager has been designated as an alternate approver for an Approval Group, he/she can also view the data for that group.  

To activate this feature, edit unanet.properties file on your web server in the unanet\properties directory. You should find a property named unanet.report.criteria.all_people and set it to false

unanet.report.criteria.all_people=false

If the property did not exist in your Unanet properties file, you can create it.  However, be advised that this functionality is not available prior to Unanet release 3.1. 

This property does not limit the information available to the Administrator.  The effects of setting this property has on other Unanet roles are described below.


Manager Reports

The following Unanet reports are primarily designed to allow a Manager to view time and expense data submitted by the people in his/her Approval Group:

These reports are only available to the Manager and Administrator roles.  The behavior of these reports with respect to the restricted view option is determined as follows: 

  Report Selection Criteria Report Data
Restricted View OFF (property set to true)
  • Person Organization - all organizations that have active or inactive people.

  • Project - all projects that have open, list, or view access.

  • Person - all active people

  • All time data for anyone who reported time to open or view projects
  • All expense data for anyone who reported expenses to open or view projects
  • All time data for anyone who reported time to list or restricted projects and for whom the Manager is an Approver
  • All expense data for anyone who reported time to list or restricted projects and for whom the Manager is an Approver
Restricted View ON (property set to false)
  • Person Organization - all organizations that have active or inactive people

  • Project - all projects that have open, list, or view access.

  • Person - all active people for whom the Manager is an Approver

  • All time data for people who reported time to any project (open, view, list, restricted) and for whom the Manager is an Approver
  • All expense data for people who reported time to to any project (open, view, list, restricted) and for whom the Manager is an Approver

 

Please note that an Alternate Manager has the same viewing privileges as the named Manager.


Project Manager Reports

The following Unanet reports are primarily designed to allow a Project Manager to view time and expense data submitted to his/her projects:

These reports are only available to the Project Manager and Administrator roles.  The behavior of these reports with respect to the restricted view option is determined as follows: 

  Report Selection Criteria Report Data
Restricted View OFF or ON 
  • Project Organization - all organizations that have open or closed projects.

  • Project - all projects that have open, list, or view access and all restricted projects owned by the Project Manager

  • Person - all active people

  • All time data for anyone who reported time to open or view projects 
  • All expense data for anyone who reported time to open or view projects 
  • All time data for anyone who reported time to list or restricted projects owned by the Project Manager
  • All expense data for anyone who reported expenses to list or restricted projects owned by the Project Manager

Please note that an Alternate Project Manager has the same viewing privileges as the named Project Manager.
